
Piyush Thakur
Piyush Thakur is an alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). His student short film, 'The Real Millionaire' was nominated for the International Grand Prix at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and was screened at over 75 festivals worldwide, winning multiple awards. He was selected to represent India at the International Student Film Camp in Serbia. After graduating from FTII, he worked as an assistant di...rector to Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Bajirao Mastani, and was later chosen for the Kyoto Filmmakers Lab in Japan and Platform Busan at the Busan International Film Festival. His latest short film, 'The First Film' premiered at the prestigious Moscow International Film Festival in Russia, and was also showcased at Bogoshorts in Colombia and the Glasgow Short Film Festival in the UK. It was recognised as a 'Short Film Market Pick' by the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and selected as a 'Film Bazaar Recommends' title by NFDC Doc Film Bazaar. The film has received several awards, including the 'German Star of India - Audience Award' at the Indian Film Festival of Stuttgart in Germany, the 'Audience Choice Award' at the Indie Meme Film Festival in Texas, USA, and the Best Short Narrative International Award at the Nepal Human Rights Film Festival - as it continues its journey across continents.
